The Different Wedding Stationery Templates

Wedding stationery templates are handy tools for all those who want to create the stationery on their own.  Templates can be downloaded from various websites.  Some are for the external and internal design of the stationery, and others are for the wording of invitations, menus, order of service, etc.

There are several types of wedding stationery templates that can be inserted into the wedding cards.  Four of them include the folded type, flat type, scroll type, and the three-sided type.  Folded template styles are to be used with folded cards.  The inserts can be attached to the inside of the card by gluing its side to the right of the spine or by tying them with a ribbon or string along the spine.  Flat template styles are ideal to be pasted directly onto flat cards or inside folded cards.  The best adhesive to use for this is spray glue.  Meanwhile, scroll types look best on thick paper and should be rolled from the bottom so that the message faces upwards.  The finished scrolls are normally tied with ribbons or strings with tassels to hold them in place.  To protect the scrolls during posting, they are usually placed inside postal tubes or boxes.  On the other hand, three-sided templates make for perfect triangular-shaped wedding stationery that can be printed and then attached to a card.

A Few Things to Know on How to Make Paper Flowers

Have you ever wondered how to make paper flowers? It is easy and we will briefly explain the basics in this article. Of course, to make professional crepe paper

flowers you will need to invest in a paper flower-making book but we assure you it will be well worth every penny.

First, you need a book on how to make paper flowers the book must include the following things, step-by-step instructions, patterns and a picture of the completed flower. A good book will also include a few types of arrangements you can make. For example if you want to make paper flowers for your wedding it should include a few bridal bouquets, corsages, boutonnieres, hair pieces and even centerpieces for the alter and reception.

Alternatively, perhaps you would like a simple flower-making book on how to make centerpieces for your home and to give as gifts. Just make sure the book you purchase has specific instructions, pattern and a picture of the flower when it is finished we cannot stress the importance of that enough.

If you find that you are not happy with your completed flower, try it again sometimes it just takes a little getting used to. Many people are often afraid they will tear the crepe paper if they handle it too roughly or if you glue a leaf on backwards or upside down, things like that will happen even on occasion after you have been making crepe paper flowers for years. Do not give up just keep going and you will see how easy and fun it is to make crepe paper flowers.

Once you have made the flowers you can use the chalk, paint, markers or crayons to add a special touch of color to them if you want too. You can also use a little scented oil to give them a nice smell and even dip them in hot wax to give them a beautiful shine however, we don’t recommended the waxing for beginners.

When you are happy with the way your flowers look you can arrange them in a vase or container and display them on a table or counter so everyone who enters your home will see you learned how to make paper flowers.

Making Homemade Candles / Easy Container Candles

Making Homemade Candles is an art form which enables you to experiment with colors and is very easy to learn. You can play with colors and different scents in the form of fragrance oils to truly add a personal touch to it which makes it priceless.

Making homemade Candles involves a whole lot of variety. Let start with the very basics. And so let take a look at container candles.

So what is needed for Making Homemade Candles?

What you need includes

1. Container
2. Wax
3. Pre-tabbed Wicks

We are set so lets get to it. We will start by melting the wax in any utensil can be soy,beeswax etc. There is a huge variety available which varies in scents dyes etc so you have a whole a lot to choose from leave it to melt should take about 15-25 minutes to do so.

In the meantime you take the pre-tabbed wicks (if not sure what wicks are visit my site link below) and stick them in the center of the container. The container can be any type steel,glass,frosted glass etc. Use a container which you think would make a beautiful candle. Personally i like using glass as you can see through the color of wax and with frosted glass the color blends divinely.

After this is done. Check on the wax if melted. You are required to check the consistency it should be completely mixed if it has melted. Keep on stirring to check. Once done pour the wax in your container. And be careful when handling it as the wax is very hot. (I burnt myself  so yea you be careful.) The top part of the wick should be uncovered. So do not fill the container to the top leave a little space.

Next leave it to cool for 7-10 hours and once cooled slightly cut the wick to give it a clean look and you have made a candle you are a Candle Maker. Now that was not Hard Was it?

16 Creative Ideas For Repurposing Baby Food Jars Into Crafts

When it comes to frugal crafting, I like to repurpose regular household trash into new craft projects. One of the items I like to use are empty baby food jars. These little jars can be repurposed into many different types of craft projects.

You can paint them or leave them plain. One of my quick and easy ways of decorating them is to just glue 1/4″ wide ribbon around the lids rim and then glue a powder puff or fabric pillow on top. You can accent your powder puff with a satin ribbon bow or leave it plain.

Here are a few ideas:

1. Bath Salt Containers (fill with your favorite homemade bath salts)
2. Bubble Bath and Bath Oils
3. Hold Desk Supplies (staples, paper clips, rubber bands, pencil leads, etc.)
4. Craft them into a pin cushion
5. Hold Sewing Supplies (needles, bobbins, buttons, snaps, etc.)
6. Hold Craft Supplies (buttons, beads, brads, eyelets, etc.)
7. Hold Loose Tea and give it as a gift
8. Candle Holder (pour candle wax into them or just sit a tea light candle inside it)
9. Tooth Pick Holder
10. Party Favors (decorate them for party favors and fill with candy)
11. Blowing Bubbles Solution (make homemade bubble solution for the kids)
12. Mini Candy Dish (fill with small candies like M&M’s, Jelly Beans or Tic Tacs)
13. Sand Art (purchase colored sand and let the kids make sand art inside the jars)
14. Homemade Body Butter Containers (fill with homemade body butter and body lotions
15. Lip Balm Tubes Organizer (You can fit 4-5 standard lip balm tubes inside)

Must Have Home Sewing Box Essentials

As a work at home mother and grandmother, I often don’t have a lot of time to mend clothing when the need arises here in our home. When I did find the time, I often didn’t have the supplies on hand that I needed so I would end up delaying the mending of the clothing item(s

) that needed to be repaired.

To solve this problem, I sat down one Saturday afternoon and went through my sewing box. I then made a list of everything that I felt I needed to have on hand to handle all of those mending emergencies. On Sunday, I headed out to our local fabric store and picked up everything on my list. Once I got back home, I sorted through everything and organized it.

The very first thing you need is a good sewing box that has organizational features. The one that I own is heavy duty plastic and inside is four lift-out trays. These trays all have removable dividers so I can customize them to suit my own needs.

Here is a list of the basic sewing items you will need to complete your sewing box.

1. Sewing Thread (Basic Colors) – white, black, brown, red, green, yellow, orange, tan
2. Needles – various lengths and tips
3. Straight Pins – one box of pins (I prefer rust-proof pins)
4. Measuring Tape
5. Scissors – I recommend a high quality pair of fabric scissors
6. Buttons – You will want to stay stocked with various colors and sizes of buttons
7. Safety Pins – I recommend various sizes in both silver tone and gold tone metals
8. Seam Ripper – Every good sewing box needs a great seam ripper tool.
9. Needle Threader – Even if you have great eye sight, a needle threader can save you precious time when you are in a hurry.
10. Iron-on Patches – I keep white, black, denim, navy, tan and brown iron-on patches in my sewing box at all times.
11. Fabric Glue – If you are in a hurry and need a quick fix, you can hem a pair of pants or fix a seam with a few dabs of fabric glue.
12. Thimble – Protect your fingertips and invest in a good thimble.

Now, if you are a seamstress, you should also keep on hand various colored zippers, zipper pulls, elastic (various widths and lengths), buckles, etc.

Once you sit down and go through your sewing supplies and organize them, you will find that you will tackle those home mending projects more quickly. Keeping a well stocked sewing box saves time and energy and your family will thank you for keeping their favorite clothing hanging in their closets instead of on your mending pile.

Candle Making Tools

It is extremely important when you begin to make your own candles that you have a clear space to work. This can be done in the kitchen but take care to cover surfaces for protection. Also make sure you have clear space around for safety and workability. Ventilation is very important when heating any wax.

The shed or garage are also places that offer space and privacy to create your candles.

Personal safety is number one rule, especially seeing that you are working with a hot substance. Protective covering cannot be reinforced enough, so think safety first.

Look at the area of work with this in mind, especially if you are doing a project with children.

Since wax melts quickly and has the very real potential to literally explode if it reaches too high a temperature, you’ll discover that a thermometer is an absolute necessity.  If you don’t use one specifically created for candles, you can use a candy thermometer or any one which indicates temperatures ranging from 100 to 300 degrees Fahrenheit

Collecting jars, bottles, containers, for your project ahead of time will save you time on the day. Select a wide range of items to use as templates.

Most hand tools you will need can be found in your own home, garage, or tool box.

A matt knife, sharp razor blade, a small kitchen paring knife.

Thermometer, scales, scissors, hammer, screwdriver, silicone spray, wax glue, dipping can pot, heat source.

Candle molds, liquid paraffin oil, oil candle wicks, thermal glass wick appropriate size for a 1” candle. Liquid paraffin oil, oil candle wicks adapter adjustment ring – depending on your container wick holders.

A fire extinguisher is essential as a safety measure.

As you expand your knowledge you will find there are a lot of other useful tools and ideas that will come into your life to use in the making of candles. Creativity will come into play and you will be surprised how resourceful you will become at adding tools and equipment to your range. I have used so many different items for molds including egg shells.

Creative Crafts With Crepe Paper

Is summertime boredom setting in? Wondering what to do after the spring cleaning projects unearthed several rolls of crepe paper that you had forgotten about, and you do not want to store again until you rediscover it next year? Several options for its taking care of it come to mind. You can throw it away while questioning your motives of keeping random things for years. You can bequeath it to a group of girls and let them decorate their room, princess style. You can experiment with how the dye runs when it gets wet, and figure out how to clean up the ink drips that accidentally stained the carpet. Or, best option yet, sit down with your kids and their friends and learn how to make crepe paper crafts.

Crepe Paper Flowers: Did you know that somewhere in the early 1900′s, paper flower making became an alternative to real flowers? People started placing them on the graves on Memorial Day because of far travel, or unavailability of real flowers. It seems it would have a little more meaning to those giving the flowers if they made them, too. A real gift of love and time. There are some fairly intrinsic designs, and simple ones too. Given some practice, beautiful flowers emerge. Roses, sweet peas, daffodils–to name a few. Enroll your kids in learning alongside you as you discover the art of crepe paper flower making. Make an online search to see which patterns you can download. After experimenting with the simple patterns, you can move onto those with more detail.

Crepe Paper Medallions: Set up a day that you can have relay races, or a field day with the neighborhood kids. Get some streamers and some colored card stock and make some ribbons the participants can take home. Cut a length of crepe paper, then fan it out in a circle to look like a tiny paper plate with a hole in the center. Cut a circle out of the card stock, slightly larger than the hole left by the paper streamer. Cut two lengths of ribbon to hang down, and glue the paper circle and the ribbon to the center of the “lace” edging of crepe paper. You can use different colors for different winning places. Use glue and glitter or markers to decorate each medallion. Once you’ve made the ribbons, let the games begin.

These are just a couple of ideas to use your left-over, or newly purchased paper streamers. Most of us enjoy the challenge of learning something new, and seeing something plain morph into something beautiful and creative.

Understanding Yarn for Your Knitting Project

In this article we cover in very basic terms the different kinds of yarns that most knitters would use & the reasons for choosing one over another.

Yarn is a string composed of interlocked fibers used in the production of textiles, crocheting, sewing and knitting.

There are many different fibers that can form a knitting yarn. Cotton is the most popular natural fiber and wool is the most common animal fiber. However, other types of animal fibers are used too, like angora, cashmere and the latest trend in knitting yarns – the alpaca knitting yarn. The alpaca fibers that form a knitting yarn are notable for their strength, which is significantly higher than that in wool fibers, for their softness and, moreover, the alpaca fiber comes in an impressive range of natural colors from white, beige, light brown, dark brown, to black.

Blending for quality ………..

However, it had been demonstrated that by blending alpaca fiber with wool, we obtain a yarn of a higher quality. When it comes to the knitting yarn composed solely of sheep’s wool, we talk of two categories of wool used in knitting yarn: worsted and woolen.

The yarn that results from worsted wool is smooth and firm, whereas the one that results from woolens is fuzzier and not so strong

Other Types ……….

. As for the natural fibers, silk and linen are also used for knitting yarn. Knitting yarn can be also made of synthetic materials, chiefly acrylic. There are all acrylic yarns or acrylic blended with wool. Nylon is another synthetic fiber used in a small quantity in the yarn designed for use in socks as an example.

There are many different types of knitting yarns you can find obviously according to quality and price. You want. For example, you can find usual yarns like cotton and wool and then luxury yarns like super merino, pure silk, possum worsted, Hana silk, baby alpaca, zephyr (50% Chinese Tussah Silk and 50% fine Merino wool)

What you need to know before choosing…………

You need to know the properties of your knitting yarn because they affect the look and the feel of the garment. Your first point of call & where you can find out a lots of information is by looking at the label, such as the fiber content, weight, type of the knitting yarn, and its suitability for the project you have in mind and naturally how many meters of knitting yarn you have and washing instructions.

In most instances however the pattern from which you’ll be knitting will identify and/or suggest the best material with which to knit the item. It is also advisable to buy a little more knitting yarn than the pattern requires.

About Yarn Weight ……………….

Yarn weight is the thickness of the knitting yarn. You will see there is a vast range going from very fine weight or baby weight and chunky yarns as well.

What does it mean?

Yarn weights are separated into different categories, six categories actually. There is: 1-first a baby, fingering, sock category, which is super fine

2- the second category is is called baby, sport category and is fine yarn weight;

3- the DK, light, worsted category which is light,

4-the afghan, aran, worsted category,

5- the chunky, craft and rug category and the fifth,

6- super bulky yarn weight which can be bulky and roving.

In the UK yarn is labeled in ply. A ply is a single strand of yarn. Lace weight, or 2-ply/3-ply is a very fine yarn used for lacy garments. Scarves and baby clothes.

Fingering knitting yarn or 4-ply is used for baby clothes but also for adult clothes.

Sport weight or DK 8-ply in Australia it is a very popular type of yarn because not only it comes in different colors, but it also comes in a range of different effects, such as heather, blushed, tweed and more; Aran, worsted or triple, 12-ply in Australia is generally used for heavily texture garments; chunky or bulky, 14-ply in Australia is a heavy yarn used to make large sweaters and jackets. This last category is called in America super-bulky.
